Artist Statement

These logo designs make up an identity system for a fictional rebranding for the Museum of New Zealand, otherwise known as Te Papa Tongarewa. The primary mission of this museum is to "represent New Zealand’s culturally diverse society" and allow its varying collections of international artifacts to "reach a broader audience." The name Te Papa Tongarewa directly translates to "container of treasures" and that is largely what I based my design process off of. My goal is for each logo to stand out just as much as it belongs together as a system and draw attention just how treasure naturally would.
Ideation

As I previously stated, the word and idea of "treasure" being the theme of my logo system was what I envisioned. In fact, it was the first of my series of sketches, pictured to the left.
